"We love James Boatman"!
James R. Dougherty # 7
(formerly known as "Morgan Muffler") was discovered as a mere child marooned on foreign shores by the adepts of the holy SUBEEZ order. With only a pair of punk rock combat boots and slight accent to his name he was taken in with great kindness but soon grew weary of the chores, arduous "dish pit" living and garlic mayo drudgery of his adopted family and found solace and pleasure amongst the clan of the URBAN VISUAL. Here he would meet a wise and patient master (VJ KRUNCH) who would teach him many of the rituals and ancient skills of the "eyeball hijacker".

A chance encounter with the one known as "Dancefloorist" (who arrived from the same strange and exotic eastern lands as Muffler) would spark a revolution of thought and practice in the young disciple and soon he was spending long hours deciphering the "way of the knobs" and loitering amongst the denizens of the city "wax shops".

Many years passed in this frenzied state of rapturous vinyl consumption, dance night throwing and boisterous hand clap hollering... such glories and tragedies as are written in the book of RENEGADE... before a dark shape began to curl its way amongst the minimal reeds and analog disco digits of the swirling dancehall that Muffler had come to cherish. The age of the DIGITAL DOWNLOAD had arrived and sewn unbearable highs and perverted lows into the very fabric and frequency of the SOUND.

Distraught and bewildered by this new era, unsatisfied with his own crate and anxious to not be misunderstood, Muffler has once again taken to the shadows, shrugging off his taken name and enlisting in the SOUNDWAVE as an advisor and aide until such time as the music will "move" him again.

"Where there is sound you will find me. Where there is a female RCA to banana clip adapter needed, or a Euro cable that needs replacing, I will be there. Need a double Rye and coke? I can probably sort that out too..." -JR

Snailrider
aka #02 Snailz
aka Morris Kode (Kali Smith) found his passion for electronic music one late night back in 96. Two years later he bought his first pair of 1200’s and started working on his craft. Going by the name kaliflower He started mixing house / breaks and dabbling in idm/glitch, jungle, triphop and downtemp. In 2004 he started mixing and producing a minimal glitchy techno and created a sound to call his own. Using minimal techno as a back drop, he drops and manipulates sounds, samples and glitches, while creating a groovy funk with a snailish bass heavy rhythm for the crowd to enjoy. Kali has played a number of parties, festivals and clubs from Victoria to Montreal, while successfully holding down club nights in Whistler and Vancouver. He has played alongside great artist like Sammy Dee, Alexander Robotnik, Detroit Grand Pubahs, Kool Keith, Safety Scissors, Pan Pot, Exercise One, Funkstorung, Lexancuplt, The Mole, Lowfish, Solvent, Stewart Walker, Konrad Black and many more.
This year he will be teaming up with long time friend and label mate Sneaks to produce a organic sounding minimal techno. Look for Standardmethod to here future releases and info.

Claire Kenway #
"Luscious pads, futuristic bleeps and blorps, sultry words and rumbling techno bass, a tinge of deep house soul and an incredibly funky rhythm, Claire blends techno with minimal, deep house, acid, electro, and breakbeats, resulting in a seamless musical mind f*ck. Inspired by the sounds of Ricardo Villalobos, Sleeparchive, Adam Beyer, Noze, Minilogue, Magda and John Tejada, Claire loves nothing more than a badass bassline and deep pounding kick topped off with a killer melody or some totally weird random morphing sound.  Some of her friends call her music fierce, some say it's funky, others like to describe it as 'pretty techno,' but one thing is for certain: it is a sound that is all her own, cultivated by a lifetime of music and nearly a decade behind the decks.

The daughter of a violinist and a mad scientist, it seems only natural that Claire would be inclined not only toward music, but also toward experimentation.  As a young girl she played violin, but when puberty hit she swapped her violin for a bass guitar, eagerly abandoning its bittersweet wail for the throngs of grunge and punk rock.  Nirvana, L7, Soundgarden, and Rancid were her bands of choice, until the fateful day she discovered techno.

At age fifteen Claire rented Hackers, and was captivated not only by the mesmerizing beauty of Angelina Jolie, but also by the magically uplifting sounds of Orbital's Halcyon On And On.  Electronic music became her new obsession.  First it was Orbital, the Prodigy, and Kruder & Dorfmeister.  Then came mixes by Richie Hawtin, Misstress Barbara, Mark Farina, and DJ LaFleche.

Buying turntables and becoming a master manipulator herself was the obvious next step.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Having had the pleasure of performing extensively throughout North America from Vancouver Island to New York City, Claire's passion is evident from the moment she steps up to the decks.  Never shy but always curious, she loves to work her audience into fervor and then test their limits by dropping something totally random.  Despite this evil streak, she has the ability to tap into the vibe of her audience and rock any party.  Claire has played alongside world-renowned artists like Misstress Barbara, Chris Liberator, Tipper, Jelo, and Deekline, and has played at a myriad of events, from sophisticated film festival soirees to clubs of all shapes and sizes, outdoor music festivals, warehouse parties, and private intimate events.

Currently dabbling in a variety of projects involving Ableton, microphones, and her Korg Electribe, in the not-too-distant future you will hear some original Claire creations. In the meantime, she is rocking out on the decks with tonnes of acaellas, cuts, reverb, echo, and delay... Creative fusion and magic is her schtick. Feel the magic... de la Claire"

Natty #18
Natty Simpson was introduced to vinyl at the tender age of 2, scolded for trying to eat his mother's prized record collection.  After being introduced to electronic music and DJing by his long time friend Alex Joy in 1999,  he became an enthusiastic player in the BC dance music scene.  After a couple years of 'clubbing' in 'Victoria' and listening to other people's music, he decided he wanted to 'DJ' other people's music.  Influenced greatly by his vinylistic mentors Scott W and Mr. Moe, he soon became Boomtown's (Victoria, BC) best customer.  Since then he has played all over North America from Miami to Vancouver and nowhere in between (except maybe Toronto, and mucho Victo).  He has had the joy of playing along side many local and international heroes and has been part of many a wonderful club night and party.  Currently residing in Vancouver BC, Natty recently headlined Lotus's 'Signal Saturdays' with fellow Big Head Knight's Thom Banks and Mr Moe.  His  maximized blend of minimal techno with jacking deep house will get you dancing.  And.... He loves you!
Graham B
aka

for almost a decade. Internationally Graham is best known for his
hand in launching the record labels Leaf Recordings and Wagon Repair.
On the decks over the past 15 years Graham has been know to play
anything from house to techno to trance and back again, but it's
always deep, and always a bit twisted. Music for the heads.
